Run the agent
Install the agent on a machine at home and pair it with your household.
The agent does the downloading and importing for your household. Run it on a machine that stays on and can reach your media folders. It only makes outbound connections, so you don't need to open any ports.
Choose how to install it
Docker
Recommended for most people: a NAS, home server or Raspberry Pi running Docker.
Kubernetes
A Helm chart for clusters, with your library mounted from NFS or any volume.
Binary
A signed binary for Linux, macOS or Windows, with a systemd service.
Each guide covers installing the agent, allowing it to write to your library folders, and pairing it.
Pair it with your household
Pairing works the same however you install the agent:
The agent shows a link and a code
On first start, the agent prints something like:
To pair this agent, open: https://app.nabbed.media/device?code=ABCD-EFGH
and enter the code: ABCD-EFGHWhere you see it depends on how you run it: docker logs, kubectl logs or
journalctl. The install guides show the exact command.
Approve it in the web app
Open the link while signed in to Nabbed. The code is filled in for you; check
it matches what the agent printed. Optionally give the agent a name, such as
living-room-nas, then choose Connect agent.
You can also go to app.nabbed.media/device and type the code yourself.
Check it's online
The agent connects within a few seconds and shows as online in Settings → Agents.
Codes are valid for 15 minutes. If one expires, restart the agent to get a new one.
One agent, or several?
One agent is enough for most households. You can pair more, for example one per machine, and Nabbed shares downloads between them. How many you can pair depends on your plan.
