Set up your library
Connect a usenet provider, check library folders and indexers, then grab your first title.
With the agent paired, a few settings tell Nabbed where to look, how to download and where to put things. They're all under Settings in the web app.
Add a usenet provider
Go to Settings → Download sources and add a source to your agent. Choose the kind Usenet provider (built-in) and enter your provider's host, port, username, password and connection limit.
Your browser encrypts these details to the agent's key before sending them. Nabbed stores and relays them but can't read them; only that agent can. If you pair an agent again, it gets a new key and you'll need to add its providers again.
BitTorrent is built into the agent and needs no setup.
External download clients aren't supported yet
The kinds list also shows SABnzbd, NZBGet, qBittorrent and Transmission. The agent doesn't support them yet and will refuse them. Use the built-in usenet provider.
Check your library folders
Go to Settings → Library folders. If you set up a household, you'll see the TV and film folders you entered. Each folder has:
-
Folder on the agent: the absolute path as the agent sees it. For Docker and Kubernetes, that's the path inside the container, such as
/media/movies. -
Folder naming and file naming: templates for how imported files are named. The defaults are:
Folder File TV series {series_title}/Season {season:02}{series_title} - S{season:02}E{episode:02} - {episode_title}Films {movie_title} ({year}){movie_title} ({year})
The agent only imports into folders you've allowed on its machine. If an import is refused, the agent's install guide shows how to allow the folder: Docker, Kubernetes or Binary.
Settings → Importing controls how files get there: Auto, Hardlink, Copy or Move, plus which extra files (such as subtitles) come along.
Add indexers
Nabbed searches your indexers for releases. Go to Settings → Indexers and add each Newznab indexer you use with its URL and API key. Indexers with a lower Priority are searched first.
Choose a quality profile
Settings → Quality profiles decides which releases Nabbed prefers, for example 1080p over 4K, and sets the default profile for new series and films. Adjust it whenever you like.
Grab something
Search for a film or series, add it to your library, and Nabbed takes it from there: it searches your indexers, picks the best release for your quality profile and sends it to your agent. Follow progress on the Downloads page. When the download finishes, the agent moves it into your library folder.
Optional: connect your media player
In Settings → Media players you can connect Plex (sign in with a PIN, then choose your server) or Jellyfin (server URL and access token), so your player sees new titles as they arrive.
