Email

Get notifications at your account email, choose which events are emailed, and unsubscribe from any of them.

Every member has an email channel for their account email. There's nothing to set up: it's ready from your first notification, and if you change your email in Settings → Profile & preferences, notifications follow it.

You can switch the email channel off, but you can't remove it.

Your email channel

Go to Settings → Notifications. Under Your channels, the Email row shows your address, the channel's status and when Nabbed last emailed you.

  • Send test emails you straight away, so you can check notifications reach you and don't land in spam.
  • Email notifications switches every notification email off or on, essential alerts included.
  • Minimum severity keeps quieter notifications in the app. See Minimum severity.

On the Free plan

On Free, Nabbed emails the owner and admins about essential problems only:

Essential alertWho gets it
Agent offlineOwner and admins
Download source unavailableOwner and admins
Agent notice, such as low disk space or a library folder the agent can't useOwner and admins
Payment failedOwner

They're emailed straight away, with two limits so a flapping setup can't flood your inbox:

  • At most one email about the same problem every 6 hours, per person. The same agent going offline again within 6 hours doesn't send another.
  • At most 10 essential alerts a day for the whole household.

Everything else stays in the notification centre, and members who aren't owners or admins get no notification emails. The delivery log shows what wasn't emailed and why.

On Pro

On Pro, every member chooses which events are emailed to them, with no limits. Under What you hear about, each event has a switch in the Email column. The In-app column is always on: everything still appears in your notification centre.

Until you change them, these are emailed:

EventEmailed by default
Release grabbedNo
Download stalledYes
Import failedYes
Ready to watchYes, if you haven't read it after 10 minutes
Agent offlineYes, essential
Agent back onlineNo
Download source unavailableYes, essential
Download source recoveredNo
Agent noticeYes, essential
Agent notice resolvedNo
Member joinedNo
Subscription startedYes
Payment failedYes, essential
Subscription endedYes

A switch only matters for events that are sent to you: billing events only go to the owner, and agent and household events to the owner and admins. See who gets each event.

A dot next to a switch means you've changed it from the default. Reset to defaults puts them all back.

Essential alerts are locked on

For owners and admins, the four essential alerts are locked on, on Free and Pro alike, and show a lock. If an agent goes offline or a payment fails, someone who can fix it hears about it. Locked alerts also ignore your minimum severity.

The only way to stop them is to switch Email notifications off altogether.

Ready to watch waits 10 minutes

Ready to watch is marked with an asterisk. It's emailed only if you haven't read it in Nabbed within 10 minutes: if you've already seen it in the app, you don't need an email. Opening the notification, or Mark all read, counts as reading it.

If more episodes of the same series arrive while it waits, one email covers them all.

Minimum severity

Every notification has a severity. From quietest to loudest: info, success, warning, error. Minimum severity sets the quietest that's emailed:

OptionEmails
EverythingEvery event you've switched on
Successes and upSuccess, warning and error
Warnings and errorsWarning and error
Errors onlyError

The overview lists each event's severity. Anything below your minimum stays in the app.

Unsubscribe from an email

Every notification email ends with two links: Notification settings and Unsubscribe. Many mail apps also show their own unsubscribe button for Nabbed's emails.

Unsubscribe stops emails about that kind of event, for example all Ready to watch emails, and leaves the others alone. It opens a page that asks you to confirm, so a link scanner that opens every link in your inbox can't unsubscribe you. Links work for 90 days.

  • The link in a test email unsubscribes you from all notification emails.
  • For owners and admins, essential alerts keep coming after you unsubscribe. The confirmation page says so.
  • To stop every email, switch Email notifications off in settings.
  • To undo an unsubscribe, switch the event back on under What you hear about.

Check what was emailed

The Delivery log tab lists every notification email Nabbed sent you, or decided not to send, and why. See Troubleshooting.
